Dr. Parviz Edalat,
Prosthodontist and Periodontist

Dr. Parviz Edalat is one of a few highly qualified dentists who is certified in two specialties in the field of dentistry. He is both a prosthodontist and a periodontist.

A prosthodontist is a dental specialist who has received 2-3 years extra post-doctoral training in crowns, bridges, dentures, cosmetic dentistry, implants as well as the treatment of TMJ disorders. Dr. Edalat received his prosthodontic specialty training at New York University.

A periodontist is a dental specialist who has received 2-3 years extra post-doctoral training in the diagnosis and treatment of gum disease. Periodontal (gum) disease is a serious infection that, left untreated, can lead to tooth loss. Furthermore, periodontitis has been associated with systemic diseases such as diabetes and some respiratory disorders.

Dr. Edalat has been practicing and teaching dentistry for over 25 years in New York City. He is associate professor and Director of the Honors and International Advanced Periodontics Program at New York University. Dr. Edalat has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally.

A periodontist is a specialist trained to diagnose and treat periodontal disease, and place dental implants.

Dr. Edalat received her post-doctoral degree in Periodontics from New York University, where she held the position of assistant Clinical Professor in the department of Periodontics.

Dr. Edalat places a strong emphasis on body-mouth connection. Research has confirmed that periodontal disease is linked to many, more serious systemic conditions. Therefore, patients with medical conditions which are associated with periodontal disease (e.g. Diabetes, respiratory disorders, osteoporosis….) are carefully screened for periodontal disease and educated about the connection between the two.

Dr. Arya Edalat,
Restorative, cosmetic and implant dentistry

Dr. Edalat received his doctoral degree from New York University, College of Dentistry and went on to the Implant Program at the same institution.

He Has been in private practice in New York City for over 8 years, where he specializes in cosmetic dentistry (i.e. porcelain veneers, all-ceramic crowns, teeth-whitening) and dental implants.
