Park Plaza Dental Specialties has been in practice in the same location at 30 Central Park South for over 25 years. Ours is a family practice that is uniquely bonded as a unit, where we communicate effectively with one another and share our strengths and experience to benefit every one of our patients. In that light, one of our guiding principles is that each patient is listened to as an individual and their needs are met with compassion and state of the art dentistry so that we may improve their overall appearance while helping with their self-confidence.
The Doctors and Qualifications
The founder of Park Plaza Dental Specialties is Dr. Parviz Edalat who is a double specialist in both the fields of Periodontics and Prosthodontics. Dr. Edalat has been celebrated for clinical excellence in his private practice as well as being a tenured professor at New York University, College of Dentistry for over 30 years. He has won numerous awards, lectured both nationally and internationally, published articles and has been dedicated to the advancement of dental techniques and materials throughout his career.
As a double specialist, Dr. Parviz Edalat can offer his patients the most comprehensive treatment to correct and restore their smiles. (Here we can put in the definitions of Periodontist and Prosthodontist).
A periodontist is a dentist who has undergone 2-3 years of additional post-doctoral training in the treatment of gum disease, periodontal surgery, placement of dental implants and periodontal plastic surgery (eg. Correcting a “gummy smile”, covering roots that have recession, lengthening tooth so that a well-made crown can be placed on the tooth).
A prosthodontist is a dentist who has undergone 2-3 years of additional post-doctoral training in the art of aesthetic dentistry. This may include Porcelain veneers, bridges, crowns, implant-supported crowns and bridges, as well as encompass all types of composite and porcelain fillings.

Dr. Maryam Edalat had been practicing as a periodontist at the Central Park location for over 18 years. During part of that time she has taught as an Associate Clinical Professor at NYU College of Dentistry, and her consistent attendance of numerous technical and theoretical courses keep Dr. Edalat at the cutting edge of her field. Her focus in the practice of periodontics has always been one of integration of body and mind, so that every patient’s well-being is considered as a whole throughout treatment. Any medical conditions, medications as well as all psychological aspects as they relate to the total health of an individual are always realized and taken in to account. This naturally creates an environment that allows for an easy flow of communication so that our patients feel they are cared for in an optimum manner.
Dr. Maryam Edalat’s practice focuses on the treatment of periodontal disease, both non-surgical and surgical, placement of dental implants, periodontal cosmetic surgery (cosmetic crown lengthening and reduction of the gummy smile) as well as root coverage surgery. Dr. Edalat is also an Elite Invisalign Provider and a large part of her practice is devoted to correcting misaligned teeth while helping the patient create an improved periodontal environment, both in terms of better oral hygiene as well as regenerating tissue where possible in areas of recession.

Dr. Ali Arya Edalat has been practicing at the Central Park South location for over 17 years and he presently has offices in Santos, Brazil where he resides. His focus in practice is the placement of dental implants as well as cosmetic dentistry.
Dr. Ali Arya Edalat has truly mastered the art of aesthetic smile design by continually being at the leading edge all new technologies and materials present in the field. He has a keen eye for proper proportions and will go to great lengths with his laboratories to create an optimum smile in each and every case.
