Practice Philosophy
As a team, we are dedicated to providing our
patients with cutting-edge dentistry, supported by
over 25 years of experience and teaching in
dentistry.
Our
philosophy begins with understanding each patient’s needs as
an individual. We know that more treatment is not
necessarily better treatment. And so we strive to educate
our patients as to treatment options along with a full
discussion of the advantages and disadvantages, time and
financial requirements of each treatment plan. We encourage
and appreciate questions. In this manner, the patient is
fully involved throughout the course of any treatment.
Our goal in each treatment plan is:
- To
treat our patients in a relaxed and caring atmosphere,
so that they are at ease!
- To
keep our patients out of pain
- To
improve function of the dentition in chewing ability and
speech
- To
create and maintain beautiful smiles for our patients
for a lifetime.
Most
importantly, our office stresses the need for long-term
maintenance. We know that prevention
is always less costly and more effective in maintaining a
healthy and beautiful smile.
Dr. Edalat's Treatment Philosophy
1. "For all my patients I start with a comprehensive
treatment plan. The timing of our treatments are
coordinated with our patient to meet their needs and
schedules."
2. "Having over 25 years of teaching and practice
experience enables me to combine my extensive
experience, with cutting edge new research and
technology in dentistry which is available in
teaching institutions like NYU, which I have been
affiliated for 28 years."
3. "In general my restorations, single crown or full
mouth fixed restoration last as long as 20 to 30
years, the key for success comes from my double
specialties in prosthodontics and periodontics."
4. "As you may know the implants, mostly done with
two specialties in dentistry, periodontist or oral
surgeons do the surgical placement of implants then
the patients are referred to prosthodontist for the
restoration (Crown or dentures on the top of the
implants). Being a periodontist and prosthodontist I
personally take all the responsibility for the
success and failure of the implants, for surgical
placement and restoration phase. There is no moving
from one office to the other and no blame game at
the end of a procedure.
5. "In the issue of implants for the upper jaw with
minimum bone due to maxillary sinus, I prefer
Osteotom technique rather than extensive and
expensive sinus lift which cuts the pain and healing
time in half, which is big advantage for patients
financially and emotionally."
6. "In conclusion, I am proud that my double
specialty in prosthodontics, periodontics as well as
my practice and teaching experience have given me an
ability to provide painless, long lasting dentistry
I do."
